Upon clicking Create CLIM Client Certificates, the guided procedure starts the process of creating
the client certificates, including a private key and a cryptographically secure pass phrase for each
of the CLIMs listed in the table. The selected Local CA will be used to validate the client certificate
during the SSL handshake.
As with other guided procedure operations, the status is reported for each CLIM and by a running
total in the Progress section of the dialog box. Details of any error can be seen by clicking on the
row of the CLIM reporting the error.
After the process has completed (either passing or failing on all of the CLIMs listed), click Continue
to proceed to the final step of the guided procedure: Register CLIMs. CLIMs for which the client
certificate creation process failed will be removed from the list of CLIMs to be registered; a pop-up
dialog informs you of any such removals.
Use Your Own X.509 Certificate
Having chosen to have OSM use your own signed X.509 Certificate, the “Use your own X.509
Certificate” dialog box is displayed. In this dialog box, you must copy and paste information from
your own signed X.509 Certificate for each CLIM to be registered.
The following rules apply to the certificate(s) you are copying from (each CLIM requires a separate
certificate):
When the certificate is created, it must contain the username of the CLIM in the Common
Name (CN) field, in the form S<system number>< CLIM name> (as created during the create
CLIM group, username, and password step).
It must be a signed certificate.
If it was signed by a CA not known to one of the Key Managers you are using (in other words,
not a Local CA), it must be imported into one of those Key Managers before completing this
guided procedure. For information on how to import a CA into a Key Manager, see the
Enterprise Secure Key Manager Users Guide.
