12.4 PARAMETERS

All the required combinations of the event timetable facilities are programmed in a

parameter array. 16 parameters can be defined, each containing any of the 16 switches

(allocated to facilities, see Section 12.3). The switches are set to active for a parameter

by insertion of a ‘1’. This allows a timetable setting not only to switch facilities in and

out but also to maintain facilities at their current state (see Figure 21.13). The

parameter is then allocated to a timetable setting which consists of day type, hour,

minute and second (see Figure 21.12).

Any combinations not required initially, may be included in the parameter array for use

at a later date. The request for a parameter may be added to a timetable setting via the

handset using the TSW command. The parameter array cannot be changed by using the

handset.

The individual facilities may be introduced via the handset by using the SWS

command.

For example, refer to the intersection in section 21 and Figure 21.12 and Figure 21.13:

At 07:30 Alternative maximum Set B is introduced, Detector C1 is switched

inactive, Dummy Phase I is deleted and the secret sign (NRT) is

illuminated - Parameter 1. The last two facilities have the effect of

Stage 2 not appearing and preventing right turning traffic on Phase B.

At 09-00 Alternative Maximum Set B is replaced by Alternative Maximum Set C

but Detector C1 remains inactive, Dummy Phase I remains deleted and

the secret sign remains illuminated - Parameter 2.

At 10-00 The standard maximum Set A is restored, Detector C1 is allowed to

operate normally, Dummy Phase I remains deleted and the secret sign is

extinguished - Parameter 0.
