T400 Controller Facilities Manual
667/EB/20200/000 Page 9-25 Issue 9
When a priority change from the bus priority level to the emergency vehicle priority
level results in a bus priority extension being curtailed, then an extended intergreen
period will be introduced if specified for that stage change (for high speed roads) or
the maximum value of a variable intergreen will be introduced.
9.4.2(e) Changes from Emergency Vehicle to Bus Priority Level
When all the conditions and requirements pertaining to the emergency vehicle priority
facilities have been serviced, the controller will return to normal (VA) operation or to
bus level if bus demands have been stored. Bus demands need not be stored during
emergency vehicle priority working. Bus demands/extensions, subsequent to the return
to normal operation, will be serviced in the normal way.
If the change from the emergency vehicle priority level occurs part way through a
phase and before the normal maximum running period has expired, then the subsequent
receipt of a bus priority extension request on the running phase will introduce a bus
priority extension and priority maximum running period.
If a change from the emergency vehicle priority level occurs after the normal maximum
running period has expired, a maximum signal change to the next demanded stage in
the cyclic sequence will then occur, unless a bus extension is present or a bus demand
stored for another phase.
9.4.2(f) Other Changes of Level
If a controller is “taken over” by UTC force signal(s) while a priority level is running,
the force signal(s) will have no effect until all vehicle extensions at the priority level
have been satisfied. Subsequently, response to force signals will comply with
specification MCE 0106, unless further priority demands and/or extensions are
received.
If a controller is “taken over” while the bus priority level is running, and the input
defined in section 6.3 is present, then the controller operation will comply with
specification MCE 0106.
Note: Mode priorities will be in accordance with Works Specification, however
Emergency vehicle priority operation will normally override UTC input (see section
9.4.2) and Bus priority will override VA.
9.4.2(g) Tolerances of Timers
Tolerance will be in line with the relevant Sections of MCE 0141.
