T400 Controller Facilities Manual

9.5 HURRY CALL MODE
A hurry call demand gives precedence to a particular stage to ensure that a green signal
is given to certain vehicles. Hurry calls may be used at junctions, e.g. near to fire or
ambulance stations, to ensure that certain vehicles are given right of way, or in
conjunction with queue detectors, to prevent blocking of a junction.
Two hurry calls (0 and 1) are available. They must be allocated a higher priority than
VA and Hurry Call 0 will have higher priority than Hurry Call 1. Timings associated
with the hurry calls are:
(a) Hurry call delay - the period between receipt and implementation of a hurry call
(DHC). The implementation of the Hurry Call is the point at which the
controller accepts the hurry call request and lights the hurry active LED.
(b) Hurry call hold - the period that the hurry call stage is maintained following
selection (HHC).
(c) Hurry call prevent - the period following selection of the hurry call stage during
which a repeat of the same hurry call is prohibited (PHC).
(d) Hurry call request watchdog, i.e. a request for a hurry call mode persisting for
longer than the request watchdog period will cause the hurry call mode to be
unavailable and an entry made in the fault log. Hurry call mode will be
unavailable until hurry call fault log entries are cleared.
(e) Hurry call watchdog, i.e. period for which the controller may remain in a hurry
call mode. If the controller remains in hurry call mode for longer than the
watchdog period, the hurry call mode will become unavailable and an entry
made in the fault log. Hurry call will be unavailable until hurry call fault log
entries are cleared.
(f) Hurry call call/cancel facility; Special conditioning can also provide a call
cancel facility for the hurry call input, i.e. as long as the input is active, the
hurry call will act as normal. However, if the input goes inactive, this is taken
by special conditioning to be a cancel signal and the special conditioning then
sets true the cancel input for the hurry call. If the hurry call is cancelled, the
Prevent timer does not become active, so if required, this may also be
implemented in special conditioning.
Facilities (d), (e) & (f) can be provided by Special Conditioning for Export only.
The programmed values may be changed via the handset using the commands in
brackets. The periods for (d), (e) and prevent timer in (f) can be changed by use of the
command (PIR) for relevant conditioning timer, see the Handbook for the
Configurator for details of timers used, and any special conditioning libraries.
Immediately a valid hurry call is received, the HURRY ACTIVE indicator on the
manual panel illuminates and remains illuminated until the end of the hold period. A
