The above conditions may not cause UTC mode to become the current mode due to

the mode priority structure. UTC may be active without being the current mode and

certain control bits may have an influence in the current mode.

Conditions (i) or (ii) will cause the UTC ACTIVE indicator on the manual panel to be

illuminated.

9.3.9 Outstation Transmission Units (OTU)

See Figure 21.14.

Some UTC systems require all control and reply signals to be inverted by an

interposing unit.

9.3.10 The Effects of U.T.C. Control Bits on C.L.F. and Master Time Clock

The master time clock

introduces C.L.F. Plans

in its timetable.

The method of Plan

TS: Resets Real Time Clock to a

configured value, e.g. 1.00 a.m.

TS1: Resets real time clock to time and

30 seconds if within +29 seconds of

time when synch received. Synch is

only applicable at the following minutes

past the hour: 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58.

UTC bits which affect C.L.F.

SG: Resets CLF. Plan to start of

Group 0

(N.B. This bit must not be used in

conjunction with the 2nd option for

plan introduction otherwise synchron-

isation may be upset.)

9.3.10(a) Options

Option 1

When the timetable introduces the plan, the plan always starts at Group 0.

Option 2

When a plan is introduced the controller calculates what group should be running

based upon the Plan being introduced at 2.00 am and the time elapsed between 2.00
